T/Th Teacher – Teacher Jeni, B.Ed.
Hello! My name is Teacher Jeni, I am so excited to be back in the classroom with your children. I am looking forward to getting to know all of you; students, parents and families over the next few months. I have been teaching playschool for a few years now and absolutely love it. The children bring such wonder and excitement to the class that it makes teaching feel like play.
I received my Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta way back in 2001. I had the opportunity to teach after receiving my degree, mostly kindergarten as well as a few other grades here and there. I decided to leave the profession to stay home and raise my 4 children who are now 19, 17, 14, and 10. I have worked with children my whole life and now being back in the classroom I can tell you why: Children are so much FUN!
I believe play is instrumental in the social, emotional, physical and intellectual development of children. Play-based learning gives children a sense of their own abilities and helps each child to feel good about themselves. I believe that a space that invites children to wonder, discover and make choices will let them grow and develop all the skills needed to prepare them for kindergarten and the world.
I am so grateful for the opportunity to work with the students, family and community at Callingwood-Lymburn Playschool. My goal with teaching playschool is that we provide them with an environment that will let their minds explore, learn and grow.
“Play is the highest form of research.” Albert Einstein
