Message from the Chair
Welcome to all families, new as well as returning to the Callingwood Lymburn Community Playschool. I am excited to be serving the playschool as Chair of the Parent Committee and look forward to working with all of you to support a wonderful playschool experience for our children. We have a committed and enthusiastic group of parents who have volunteered to sit on the Parent Committee this year, so feel free to approach any of them if you have questions.
Our General Parent Meeting will be held on Sept 10th. It is very important that at least one parent from every family attend this meeting. We will provide a lot of information and you will be signing up for helper days, bingos and toy cleanings and have the opportunity to get your child’s information package from their teacher. We also encourage you to find childcare for your children, as this will allow you and the other parents to focus on the information being presented.
Important dates in September:
September 7, 2015 Labour Day
September 10, 2015 (7-9 pm) General Parent Meeting
Callingwood Community Recreation Center second floor (to the right at the top of the stairs)
September 14, 2015 MWF Parented Day
September 15, 2015 T/TH Parented Day
September 16, 2015 First Day of MWF Classes (unparented)
September 17, 2015 First Day of T/TH classes (unparented)
Please note that during the parented class, one parent will need to be present for the entire time. This day will serve as an orientation for your child to the classroom, teacher and the other children as well as for yourself in terms of what to expect on your “parent helper” days. Take the time to get to know other parent s and introduce yourself and your child to the other children.
There will be information on the bulletin board directly outside the classroom that will be updated monthly. Please make every effort to stay well informed as to what is going on throughout the month in the classroom, events, volunteer requests and updates by checking your email and your child’s mailbox in the classroom frequently, posting the classroom calendar on your fridge, reading the monthly newsletters or checking facebook or our website and checking the bulletin board. You will receive a reminder from your class rep in terms of duties and instruction prior to your scheduled helper days.
Again I would like to thank everyone for all the hard work thus far in preparing for the school year. I know that all of our children are going to have a wonderful year at CLCP!
